YG Entertainment Company Introduction


YG Entertainment is one of the three biggest talent agencies in South Korea. It was founded by Yang HyunSuk, a member of the kpop revolutionaries Seo Taiji & Boys. YG stands for “Yang Goon” where “Yang” is his name and “Goon” refers to Yang as a “man.” The company specializes and focuses on the R&B and hip-hop/hip-pop genre. The company also has subsidiaries to run the management world-wide.
The Three Subsidiaries YG Entertainment Japan – For management of overseas operations; specifically in Japan. YG Underground – For management of YG Entertainment’s lesser known talents. YGEX – Current record company that is the outcome of YG Entertainment and AVEX Recording Studio. The “YG” in “YGEX” comes from YG Entertainment while the “EX” comes from AVEX. This subsidiary is solely focused in Japan.
YG Entertainment Record Label YG Entertainment is a very successful record label. They are known for kpop artists such as Big Bang, 2NE1, Seven, Tablo as well as many talented producers such as Teddy. The company also has actors under their name such as Ku Hye Sun from the popular Korean drama series Boys Over Flowers.
